It's been a while since I showed off Dora and as she always seems to cheer me up and I'm feeling just a bit melancholy, I thought that it was perhaps time to do so again.
( Picture! )
She looks so much like me when I was her age, it's a bit uncanny. There are some parts of her that are uncannily Ted but when I just look at her, it's like she's a miniature version of myself. Of course, she will then turn her hair some unnatural color or open her mouth and sound uncannily like Ted (not that either is a bad thing, of course) and sort of ruin the whole vision, but the thought is still there.

Sometimes it feels as though we (or, perhaps, just myself) are doing little more than waiting for the next terrible thing to happen. I don't know what's quite worse -- that this has become a norm or that something terrible does happen.
That said, I want to extend my and my family's sincerest condolences to any and everyone who has lost someone as of recent.

"We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." -- Oscar Wilde
I don't know what it is about that quote, but I enjoy it. It sort of makes me smile to know that despite that the world is rather messy right now, despite that there are arguments over issues that to some might be trivial but to others are important, and despite that the light at the end of the tunnel seems so far away... it's possible to find the hope. You might have to change your position or look a different way, but it's there.

Today my daughter announced that she has high aspirations to become a Hufflepuff because it's "the funnest one to say." And while I can't really disagree with that, I could have done without her trying to make herself look like a badger.
I... don't even know sometimes.
That being said, she really is very handy for forgetting how much of a mess this world is.
My thoughts are with all of the families that were hurt these past few weeks. It really is a terrible, terrible thing and it makes me just plain ache to know that this intolerance doesn't seem to be going anywhere.
